As the Philippine-Russian Business Assembly (PRBA) gears up for its 2010 Business Forum and Exhibition, we can’t help but remember all the great highlights of last year’s event. Russia being one of the world’s largest markets and one of the most difficult to penetrate, the PRBA came up with an initiative to tap its hidden opportunities.
The 1st Philippine-Russian Business Forum brought together Filipino and Russian businessmen in a discussion of equals. On August 7, 2009, at the Cebu International Convention Center, Cebu, Philippines, representatives from the Philippines and the Russian Federation’s diplomatic and business communities came together to share ideas and present their business interests. The welcome speech was delivered by Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation Armi Lopez Garcia (also the PRBA President) and the formal address was given by the Governor of Cebu, Gwen Garcia. The Keynote Speech was by Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. With the theme of “New ties. New markets. New ways.”, the event focused on identifying areas of economic cooperation and new avenues for doing business.
Speakers included Russian diplomats, Russian businessmen residing in the Philippines, and Filipino representatives from each major industry: trade, mining, construction, BPO, IT, real estate and tourism. The event was hosted by Cebuano entrepreneur Bunny Pages. The venue was full-packed with over 300 delegates.
